Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN today commissioned the Sunshine Chocolate Factory located in the ancient Kingdom of Idanre.
The Ancient town of Idanre is regarded as one of the biggest Cocoa producing area in the Nation, this is as a result of it fertile soil which is made up of loamy and clay and the abundance rainfall in the area. It’s popularly said that almost every family in the town owns a cocoa plantation.
Speaking at the Commissioning of the Factory, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN explained that factory before the inception of his administration in the State was a moribund one has it has been neglected by previous governments in the State over the years. He further stated that the pathetic state of the facility upon the inception of his administration led to the refusal of Nexim Bank which was brought to partner the state government to resuscitate the facility.
He however stated that it’s because of his genuine love and strong commitment to the people of the town and the fulfilment of his campaign promises which is based on developing every area of the state.
According to the governor, Idanre is one of the largest Cocoa producing area in the World and as a result of this it is important for his Government to exploit this great benefit as it would go a long way in boosting the economy of the town and state at large.
He also added that in terms of quality, Idanre produces one of the best Cocoa in the world, and as a result of this the Chocolate produced here has been adjudged to be one of the best in the world
