ADC Coalition Chairman, David Mark breaks silence over Endorsement Of Peter Obi, Atiku For 2027 Elections
He stated unequivocally that the party has not settled on any candidate, nor is it in alliance with any political figure at the moment.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has denied endorsing any presidential aspirant ahead of the 2027 general elections, distancing itself from reports suggesting support for either Peter Obi of the Labour Party or former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
The interim National Chairman of the ADC, Senator David Mark, made the clarification in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday.
He stated unequivocally that the party has not settled on any candidate, nor is it in alliance with any political figure at the moment.
He noted that ADC has no chosen or preferred candidate.
“Our focus now is to build a platform that will appeal to the majority of Nigerians.”
The former Senate President said the party’s priority is to protect Nigeria’s unity and give citizens a credible alternative in 2027.
“We don’t want this great ship called Nigeria to sink. If we fail to rise up now, we may all go down with it,” he warned.
Mark also addressed allegations from the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu, who claimed that the interim leadership was covertly backing Atiku.
“I don’t own this party more than any of our members,” he said. “All Nigerians must come together and take ownership of the ADC.”
Meanwhile, President Tinubu’s aide, Bayo Onanuga, alleged on Tuesday that certain political actors were conspiring to remove the President ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Onanuga described the Tinubu administration as “the most focused and transformative in Nigeria’s history,” warning that adversaries of progress were aligning to undermine it.
He also cited a 2022 statement by Emir Sanusi: “If anybody tells you reform will be easy, don’t vote for him.”
