In her heartfelt congratulatory message, Hon. Adesanya showered encomiums on the players, coaching crew and entire technical team for their courage, determination, discipline and unwavering fighting spirit, describing their achievement as a remarkable demonstration of the resilience and excellence Africa represents on the global stage.

“What a historic moment for Nigeria! What a glorious day for Africa! Our girls fought with courage, played with passion and, through their determination and hard work, made history. By defeating Japan to lift the trophy, they have become the first African team ever to win this competition. What an extraordinary achievement!”

I have always believed that our young people, when given the right support, encouragement and opportunities, possess everything it takes to rise and conquer the world.

“From supporting grassroots sports to encouraging young footballers and standing firmly with our youths across Akure North and South, I have witnessed firsthand the incredible talents our communities are blessed with.

“Today, the Flamingos have demonstrated to the entire world that Nigerian talent, when properly nurtured and given the right opportunities, can compete, excel and command recognition on the global stage.”

Speaking further, Hon. Adesanya described the victory as a source of inspiration, particularly for young Nigerians who aspire to greatness in sports, leadership, education and other spheres of human endeavour.

She noted that the achievement should serve as a renewed call for greater investment in grassroots sports, youth development and the creation of opportunities for young talents to discover, develop and maximise their potential.
She concluded by celebrating the players, their coaches and everyone whose contributions made the historic achievement possible.

“Today, Nigeria celebrates you. Akure celebrates you. Ondo State celebrates you. The entire African continent celebrates you.
