17 Minors Rescued From Rubber Solution Inhalation
In Bauchi

The police in Bauchi State have rescued seventeen minors after they were found inhaling rubber solution at different locations in Bauchi metropolis.
The children were reportedly found engaging in the dangerous practice at night, with eight of them first apprehended by a concerned resident who stumbled upon them while they were allegedly inhaling the substance along Adamu Jumba Street.
The resident handed the children over to the police at about 10pm on November 5, 2026.
In what appeared to be a wider problem, operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command later arrested another nine minors around the Wunti Flyover area on the same night for allegedly engaging in the same activity.
The intervention brought the number of rescued children to 17.
Rather than treating the incident as an isolated case of child substance abuse, the police launched an operation to trace those allegedly supplying the substance to the minors.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, information obtained from the rescued children led to the arrest of two suspected suppliers.
Nathan of Yelwan Makaranta area and 25-year-old Sani Ali of Muda Lawan Market, on November 6.
Police said 12 packs of rubber solution were recovered from them during a search.
The 17 children have since been taken into protective custody, while the police said efforts were ongoing to identify their parents and guardians and reunite them with their families.
The two suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue to uncover other people allegedly involved in supplying the substance to minors.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the alleged exploitation of children through drug supply, describing it as wicked, shameful and unacceptable.
He commended the resident whose intervention led to the rescue of the first eight children and urged parents, guardians, teachers and community leaders to pay closer attention to the activities and welfare of children.
The command also appealed to residents to report suspicious activities, particularly those involving the sale or distribution of intoxicating substances to minors.
