The directive, contained in an internal police wireless message obtained by SaharaReporters, “IMMEDIATE” and circulated to police commands and formations, instructs serving officers to visit the nearest offices of NPF Pensions Limited for the verification and capturing exercise.

The wireless communication, with reference number DTO: 061515/11/2026, was issued by the Police Electronics and Telecommunications (Penpol) office in Lafia, Nasarawa State, and addressed to the Commissioners of Police in charge of DFA, SCID and DOPS in Lafia, all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Heads of Departments and other sectional heads.

The message relayed an earlier communication from the Commissioner of Police in charge of Pensions, Abuja, dated October 30, 2026, with reference number 8475/DFA/PEN/VOL.8/118.

According to the directive, PenCom has mandated all active police personnel to undergo the liveness verification exercise in view of the proposed augmentation of the 200 per cent gratuity and various welfare initiatives for police officers currently undergoing review and evaluation by the Presidential Committee.

The police communication stated that the exercise was necessary to consolidate the process and ensure that serving personnel were properly captured in the pension system.

It therefore instructed all active police officers to report to the nearest NPF Pensions Limited offices located within their respective commands and formations, including zonal offices, police headquarters pension offices and other designated pension offices.

Officers are required to present four key identification details for the exercise: their Retirement Savings Account Personal Identification Number (RSA PIN), National Identification Number (NIN), Bank Verification Number (BVN) and Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) number.

The verification exercise is expected to begin on November 9, 2026.

The directive also specifically addresses officers who have yet to transfer their Retirement Savings Accounts (RSAs) to NPF Pensions Limited, as well as those who previously transferred their accounts to other Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs).

Such officers have been advised to visit the nearest NPF Pensions Limited office to initiate the process of transferring their pension accounts back to the police-linked pension administrator.

The police authorities further disclosed that the exercise would provide an opportunity for personnel interested in accessing 25 per cent of their Retirement Savings Accounts for mortgage equity to submit applications through NPF Pensions Limited.

According to the wireless message, the process for accessing the 25 per cent RSA withdrawal for mortgage equity has been further enhanced, allowing eligible personnel to take advantage of the opportunity while completing the verification exercise.

The communication described compliance with the PenCom directive as being of great advantage to all police personnel and urged command authorities and departmental heads to ensure that the information was promptly disseminated to serving officers.
