Osimhen To Undergo Knee Surgery, Set To Miss AFCON Qualifiers

Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen is set to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery after sustaining an injury during the club’s UEFA Champions League match against VfB Stuttgart.

The Turkish champions confirmed the development in a statement on their official X account, revealing that medical examinations detected a loose body in the Super Eagles striker’s left knee.

“In the UEFA Champions League match we played against VfB Stuttgart, our player Victor Osimhen sustained a strain in his left knee, and MRI examinations detected a loose body. An arthroscopic knee surgery will be performed tomorrow at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital by our club doctor Yener İnce. For this reason, our player has been removed from the squad for tomorrow’s match against Amed S. F.”

The procedure is scheduled to take place at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital under the supervision of Galatasaray club doctor Yener İnce.

Osimhen has consequently been ruled out of Galatasaray’s next fixture against Amed S. F., while his recovery timeline remains unclear.

The injury is also expected to rule him out of Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Tanzania on November 13 and 17.

The development is a setback for the Super Eagles as they prepare for the qualifying fixtures without one of their key attacking players.
