Congolese Goalkeeper Epolo Collapses After Collision With Nigerian Striker Rafiu Durosinmi

Congolese goalkeeper Matthieu Epolo was knocked down after a heavy collision before being sent off during Standard Liège’s match against Genk.

The 21-year-old goalkeeper rushed out of his area to challenge Genk striker Rafiu Durosinmi for a long ball.

During the challenge, Epolo collided heavily with Durosinmi and was hit in the face by the striker’s knee.

Epolo stayed on the ground and needed treatment before getting back up. He was then shown a red card after officials ruled that he had handled the ball outside his penalty area.

The incident forced Standard Liège to continue the match with 10 players, with substitute goalkeeper Lucas Pirard coming on.
