Governorship Candidate Hospitalised After Losing Consciousness,
Suffering Bleeding Amid Ongoing Sham Trial
Ogala’s arrest and prosecution followed a public dispute involving Pastor Chris Okafor, founder of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry.

The African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate in Abia State, Doris Ogala, has reportedly been hospitalised after losing consciousness and suffering bleeding, according to a source close to her who raised the alarm in a video shared with SaharaReporters.
In the video, the associate disclosed that he had spoken with Ogala over the telephone and was permitted to communicate with her at the hospital, where she was receiving medical attention.
He said the governorship candidate told him she had lost consciousness, was bleeding and did not know when she was taken to the hospital.
According to him, Ogala’s condition appeared distressing, as she expressed frustration while speaking about her health.
“Hi everybody, how are you guys doing? I just got off a call with Doris Ogala. They allowed me to speak to her in the place where she is right now. She’s admitted at the hospital,” the associate said.
“According to her, she lost consciousness. She was bleeding. She didn’t even know when they took her to the hospital.”
He explained that he attempted to record the conversation but the screen recording did not capture his own audio.
“You can see in the video, when I was trying to record the screen, it didn’t capture my own audio, but you can see her showing frustration with her condition,” he added.
The associate appealed to Nigerians to pray for Ogala and support her, expressing concern over the circumstances surrounding her hospitalisation.
He also condemned the Nigerian government’s involvement in the criminal prosecution of the actress, describing the dispute underlying the case as a private disagreement between former lovers.
“All I can say is she needs our prayers, she needs our support. More so, it’s just very shameful that the Federal Government of Nigeria will commit its resources, and the resources of the Federal Government Department, to prosecute a civil case between an individual and a former boyfriend,” he said.
“An ex-boyfriend and girlfriend matter is what you’re using the Federal Ministry of Justice to prosecute. This is what you should reserve for terrorists and criminals. It’s so unfortunate.”
The video subsequently captured Ogala speaking directly about her medical condition, confirming that she was bleeding and had collapsed before being taken to the hospital.
“I’m bleeding. My operation is deteriorated and I’m bleeding. They said I collapsed and they brought me to the hospital. I don’t know what happened,” the actress said.
Her statement has raised fresh concerns about her health, particularly as she remains in detention over the criminal charges instituted against her.
Also speaking in the video, fiery activist and AAC presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, condemned the circumstances surrounding Ogala’s prosecution and detention.
Sowore argued that government institutions and public resources were being deployed to pursue a dispute between a former boyfriend and girlfriend.
He said Ogala was not only a citizen but also a political figure who had been selected as the AAC governorship candidate in Abia State.
“The same thing is happening under your watch. The Nigerian police are now starting using state resources to prosecute boyfriend and girlfriend issues in the federal courts,” Sowore said.
He added that Ogala had alleged that Abia State Governor Alex Otti was involved in the injustice she claimed to be experiencing.
“And Doris Ogala is not just a citizen as every other person, she’s a humanitarian candidate of our party. She has already alleged that Governor Alex Otti is involved in this injustice. It is left for us and time to be able to unravel some of these mysteries,” he said.
Sowore, however, warned that all individuals involved in the controversy should be careful, saying the allegations and circumstances surrounding the case needed to be properly investigated.
He specifically called out Justice Akintayo Aluko, who is handling Ogala’s case, questioning the conduct of the judiciary and warning judges against decisions that could undermine citizens’ rights.
“That’s why we’re calling out Justice Akitayo Aluko. Your name has been mentioned repeatedly with dealings with pastors. And what do you like pastors for that matter in this country? Is that the law that you read or is that the justice that you want to dispense for Nigerians?” he asked.
Sowore further criticised what he described as the practice of sending individuals to prison without giving them a fair opportunity to defend themselves.
“Judges will no longer be spared. If you are not in the interest of the law or if you are so happy to send someone to jail without being tried, you deserve to be called out,” he said.
He also referenced the detention of other activists, including himself, and criticised what he described as the growing deterioration of Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
“We are watching and Nigerians are watching. The revolution is not going to be about Tinubu alone. It’s about the rotting system of the legislative, the presidency, the executive and the judiciary,” Sowore said.
He concluded by demanding the immediate release of Ogala and other detained individuals.
“So we are saying free Doris Ogala now. Free Agogo now. Free Sowore now. Free Nigeria,” he added.
Ogala’s arrest and prosecution followed a public dispute involving Pastor Chris Okafor, founder of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry.
The Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation filed criminal charges against the actress over allegations bordering on cyberstalking, cyberbullying and attempted extortion.
The prosecution alleged that Ogala published intimate photographs of the cleric without his consent, circulated electronic messages said to be false and threatened to release further damaging materials unless he met certain demands.
The actress pleaded not guilty to the charges.
She was subsequently remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos following her arraignment before the Federal High Court.
Her bail application is scheduled for a ruling on November 6, 2026.
