“Tenants Must Rent Houses With Their NIN. We Are Making A Law” — Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has said the National Assembly is working on a law that will make the National Identification Number (NIN) mandatory for renting houses in Nigeria.

Akpabio disclosed this while speaking on the need to strengthen national security and improve identity management.

According to him, requiring tenants to present their NIN before renting a house will help track residents, curb crime, and enhance accountability in housing transactions.

“We are making a law that tenants must rent houses with their NIN,” he said.
