Gumi Reacts as Police Arrest JIBWIS Member Who Threatened To Kill Christians in A Viral Video
According to a Facebook post on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has reacted to the arrest of a JIBWIS member accused of calling for the killing of christians in Enugu and Jos.

The incident followed a viral video showing a group of young men wearing brown uniforms and blue berets, reportedly linked to JIBWIS. In the footage, a man leading the group allegedly called for attacks on christians in Enugu and Jos using AK-47 rifles during sunday worship.
In his reaction, Gumi defended the group and said it had contributed to religious stability and peaceful coexistence for 47 years. He maintained that no act of violence could be directly attributed to the movement as an institution.
Gumi said the suspect should be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted if evidence established criminal responsibility. He stressed that justice should be based on evidence rather than public sentiment. Furthermore, he questioned the identity and motive of the person who recorded and circulated the video.
He expressed concern that unidentified individuals might be seeking to infiltrate the movement, damage its reputation or create divisions. How ever, he cautioned against treating these concerns as established facts without evidence. He called for a transparent investigation and urged all parties to uphold justice, peace and the rule of law.
