What I Will Do To Anybody Who Commits Any Crime After Our Inauguration In 2027- Obi Reveals

Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has pledged to take firm action against anyone involved in criminal activities if he assumes office as president in 2027.

Obi made the declaration in a statement published on his official X account on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, where he outlined his proposed approach to tackling insecurity and restoring law and order across the country.

The former Anambra governor stated that anyone who commits a crime after his inauguration would face decisive action, stressing that his administration would use all lawful measures to identify offenders, investigate those backing them and dismantle the networks responsible for criminal activities.

He also emphasised that his government would not show leniency towards criminals, adding that efforts to address insecurity would focus not only on those who carry out attacks but also on individuals and groups suspected of sponsoring or supporting them.

In his post, Obi wrote: “Any crime committed after our inauguration will be dealt with decisively. Using every lawful means necessary, we will identify the perpetrators and their sponsors, dismantle their criminal networks, and restore order, stability and freedom of movement”.

Obi’s comments come amid continued public concern over insecurity in different parts of Nigeria, particularly incidents involving banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes.

The NDC presidential candidate also referred to an amnesty proposal for bandits and kidnappers, stating that it would take effect after his victory was announced. However, his accompanying statement stressed that criminal acts committed after his inauguration would attract decisive action.
