Atiku Was Trained In School Of Hygiene, He Doesn’t Have Skill Set To Govern A Modern Economy – Shettima
According to a report by Punch Newspaper on Monday, October 26, 2026, Vice-President Kashim Shettima has criticised former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar over his proposal to reintroduce petrol subsidy, accusing him of placing political interests above Nigeria’s economic stability.

Shettima argued that restoring the policy could undermine ongoing economic reforms and worsen the country’s financial challenges.
The Vice-President maintained that bringing back petrol subsidy would represent a reversal of the government’s efforts to restructure the economy.
He warned that such a decision could increase the country’s economic difficulties and expose more Nigerians to poverty, rather than support sustainable growth and development.
Shettima made the remarks while speaking at the Nigerian Economic Summit in Abuja on Monday, where he addressed the economic implications of proposals being advanced by political leaders.
He criticised a prominent presidential contender for advocating the return of petrol subsidy, suggesting that the position was motivated by political considerations.
