NISO says power supply restored after multiple trippings on national grid
The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) says the national grid has returned to normal operation after multiple trippings on the 330kV transmission network disrupted the power system on Monday.

NISO announced in a statement on Monday that the incident occurred at about 12:40pm.
“Following the incident, NISO, working with TCN, immediately implemented appropriate corrective measures to stabilise the power system and restore normal operations,” NISO said.
The system operator said the incident affected only a section of the grid, dismissing reports suggesting a wider disruption.
“NISO wishes to clarify that the incident affected only a section of the grid, contrary to unverified reports and claims currently circulating in the media,” the statement reads.
The operator advised the public to rely on its official communication channels for accurate information on the status of the national grid.
Nigeria’s electricity generation had dropped from 3,840 megawatts at 7am to 476.70MW by 1pm, according to data on NISO’s portal.
