The suspected cultists reportedly visited the Abuloma Police Outpost in Rivers State on Thursday, October 15, 2026, to celebrate the completion of the renovation, according to a video circulating on social media.

The Rivers State Police Command has queried and relieved the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Abuloma Division and the divisional officer overseeing the affected police outpost after suspected cultists renovated the facility and visited it to celebrate the completion of the project.
The suspected cultists reportedly visited the Abuloma Police Outpost in Rivers State on Thursday, October 15, 2026, to celebrate the completion of the renovation, according to a video circulating on social media.
In a statement issued on Friday, October 16, 2026, signed by ASP Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, the Rivers State Police Command said it had taken cognisance of the trending social media report and circulating video alleging that suspected cultists renovated the outpost before visiting the facility to celebrate the completion of the work.
The Command, however, said a full investigation had been ordered to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and verify the allegations.
It added that the affected officers had been queried and relieved of their duties pending the outcome of the investigation.
The police, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Olugbenga A. Adepoju, condemned any action or association capable of undermining the integrity, discipline and professional standards of the Nigeria Police Force.
The Command warned that police facilities are public institutions established to protect citizens and enforce the law and must not become platforms for criminal groups to seek public validation, recognition or influence.
It stated that it maintains zero tolerance for criminality and any conduct capable of undermining public confidence in the police.
As part of the investigation, the Commissioner of Police directed investigators to establish the identities and backgrounds of the individuals or groups that financed or facilitated the renovation of the Abuloma Police Outpost.
The investigation will also determine which police officers authorised or approved the project, whether the required procedures were followed, and whether any personnel breached professional standards or compromised the integrity of the Force.
The Command further said investigators would examine the extent of any involvement by police personnel in the project and determine whether the necessary approvals and background checks were conducted on those who financed or facilitated the renovation.
While acknowledging that communities can legitimately support efforts to improve police facilities, the Command stressed that such contributions must not compromise police independence, security or professional standards.
It cited Section 26(1)(d) of the Nigeria Police Act 2020, which provides for gifts and contributions to the Police General Fund, noting that legitimate assistance must be provided within the applicable legal and administrative framework.
The police emphasised that no donation or assistance would confer immunity from investigation or prosecution.
The Command also reiterated that it would not condone unprofessional conduct, compromise or any form of improper association between police officers and criminal elements.
It warned that any personnel found culpable would face appropriate disciplinary measures, while legal action would be taken where warranted by the findings of the investigation and applicable laws.
The police further reaffirmed their commitment to professionalism, transparency, the protection of lives and property, and the fight against cultism and organised crime in Rivers State.
Members of the public were urged to remain calm and provide credible and timely information to assist security agencies in maintaining peace and tackling criminal activities across the state.
The Command also provided its Complaint Response Unit contacts for members of the public seeking to report complaints or provide information.
