Kenyan politician, Ekuru Aukot has questioned why Nigerian billionaire, Dangote is spending $16 billion to build a new oil refinery in Kenya while Nigeria still struggles with serious power problems.🇳🇬🇰🇪
Aukot, the leader of Thirdway Alliance Kenya, said Kenya should reject the deal and questioned why Dangote was not first focusing on problems in his home country.
His comments came after Dangote broke ground on the planned refinery in Lamu on September 30.
The facility is expected to process 700,000 barrels of crude oil per day and is targeted for completion in 2030.
Aukot has also formally asked the Kenyan government to release the full agreement with Dangote, including details of the project’s ownership and shareholders.
