Owo Gets 500 Solar Streetlights as BORBDA MD Adekanmbi Drives Community Development
The Managing Director of the Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority (BORBDA), Dr Femi Adekanmbi, has facilitated the installation of 500 solar-powered streetlights across strategic locations in Owo.

The initiative, according to Adekanmbi, aims to improve visibility and security in the community, especially at night, while complementing ongoing efforts by the government and other stakeholders to enhance infrastructure and residents’ quality of life.
Adekanmbi said the project was conceived in response to the need for improved street lighting in parts of Owo, noting that access to reliable public lighting remained important to community safety, mobility and economic activities.
He said, “This intervention is about responding to a need that affects the everyday lives of our people. We want our communities to be safer, better illuminated and more conducive for residents and businesses.”
He thanked the relevant authorities and stakeholders whose support made the project possible, assuring them he would continue to support initiatives that contribute to the development and well-being of Owo and its people.
The BORBDA MD urged residents to protect the facilities and ensure their proper use and maintenance, stressing that community ownership was essential to the sustainability of the project.
