Operation Rainbow Deputy Commander K!lled in fresh ∆mbush

The Deputy Commander of Operation Rainbow, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Dennis David Babale, has been killed after security personnel came under attack along the Bokkos-Barkin Ladi road in Plateau State.

Babale was reportedly ambushed by unidentified gunmen at about 4:06 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, while travelling in a Toyota Hilux vehicle in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area. The team was responding to a distress call when the attackers opened fire.

Babale sustained gunshot wounds during the attack and was evacuated to the General Hospital, Barkin Ladi, for treatment. He later died from the injuries, according to reports. Plateau State Police Command confirmed that a CSP attached to Operation Rainbow was killed along Gagshi Road between Barkin Ladi and Bokkos.

Following the attack, troops from Sector 4 of Operation Enduring Peace, alongside personnel from other security agencies, moved into the area and launched operations to track the attackers. Police said investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.

The killing occurred amid renewed security concerns in Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu. The Plateau State Government had imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on the three local government areas from September 21 following a series of attacks. Three civilians were also reportedly killed in a separate attack at Rakok, also known as Kafi Abu, in Barkin Ladi.
