Operation Fansan Yamma Intercepts Suspected Terrorist Logistics Supplier in Katsina
Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North-West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have intercepted a suspected terrorist logistics supplier and recovered four new motorcycles and 15 jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in Katsina State.
The operation was carried out as part of ongoing efforts by the military to disrupt logistics networks supporting armed groups and deny them freedom of movement and operation across the North-West.
Acting on actionable intelligence, the troops conducted a targeted stop-and-search operation along the Gurbi–Zurmi transit corridor, which links Katsina and Zamfara states.
During the operation, the troops intercepted a commercial utility truck that was allegedly attempting to bypass security protocols.
A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of four brand-new motorcycles, which had reportedly been concealed inside sealed packages to evade detection.
The troops also recovered 15 30-litre jerrycans of PMS. According to the military, the fuel was covertly mixed among containers of vegetable and palm oil in an apparent attempt to disguise the shipment.
The driver and primary suspect, identified as Mallam Abbas Umoru, was taken into custody.
The military said preliminary inquiries indicate that the recovered logistics were allegedly intended for terrorist enclaves operating within the border area of Katsina and Zamfara states.
The military described the interception as a significant disruption to the logistics chain of armed groups that rely on motorcycles for mobility and fuel for their operations.
The suspect and recovered items remain in military custody as investigations continue to determine the source and intended destination of the consignment and identify other individuals who may be connected to the alleged supply network.
