IED damages military vehicle during patrol in Imo

An improvised explosive device (IED) has detonated under a military vehicle during a routine patrol along the Ihite Ukwa–Health Centre axis in Orsu LGA of Imo state.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, quoted security sources as saying that the incident occurred at about 6:50am on Friday, September 4.

According to the publication, troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade were conducting a routine patrol when the vehicle triggered the explosive device.

Makama said the explosion damaged the front-right fender of the mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicle, but no casualty was recorded.

It noted that troops have continued security operations in the area, while efforts are ongoing to prevent further attacks along the route.
