Bashir El-Rufai Attacks Brother Bello Over Loyalty To Uba Sani
Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, has launched a scathing attack on his brother, Bello El-Rufai, over his political allegiance and recent move to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Bashir made the comments in a series of posts on X on Saturday, accusing Bello of prioritising his political interests over family loyalty.
Bello, who represents Kaduna North Federal Constituency, remained in the All Progressives Congress (APC) after their father left the party in March 2025. He later defected from the APC to the ADC on May 7, 2026, joining his father in the opposition party.
Reacting to the move, Bashir accused his brother of remaining loyal to Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani until he allegedly realised he was being sidelined.
“Stuck with Uba Sani until he realized he is being dumped then suddenly remembered family loyalty and moved to ADC. Where was he since? Purely serving his interest,” Bashir wrote.
He further accused Bello of maintaining neutrality while others criticised Sani and alleged that his brother had previously asked him to tone down his criticism of the governor.
Bashir described his brother as a hypocrite and said he had grown tired of what he described as “nonsense.”
He also made other personal allegations against Bello, including claims concerning his fertility status and alleged drug use. The allegations were not substantiated, and some of the posts were later deleted.
The latest public exchange comes amid the wider political and legal tensions surrounding the El-Rufai family.
Nasir El-Rufai has been in custody since February 2026 over alleged financial impropriety relating to his tenure as Kaduna governor between 2015 and 2023. The former governor has denied wrongdoing.
