Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has criticised Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq over comments about political access to the presidency, accusing the governor of failing to use his proximity to the seat of power to benefit the people of the state.
Davido, in a post responding to a statement by AbdulRazaq, said the governor’s accessibility to the Presidential Villa had allegedly contributed to insecurity in Kwara State, while describing political leaders as “watery.”
The singer wrote: “Your accessibility to the villa brought nothing but insecurity to Kwarans …these so called leaders are watery.”
Davido was reacting to comments made by AbdulRazaq during an All Progressives Congress, APC, mega rally ahead of the Osun State governorship election.
The Kwara governor had stressed the importance of electing a governor who could maintain direct access to President Tinubu’s administration and secure federal benefits for the state.
AbdulRazaq said: “There is a need to have a governor that can go to Aso Rock and bring goodies to Osun State. You need a governor that has access to the President.”
His comments drew a sharp response from Davido, who questioned the value of such political access, pointing to what he described as insecurity in Kwara State.
The exchange comes amid heightened political activities ahead of the forthcoming Osun State governorship election, with political parties and prominent figures intensifying their campaigns and public messaging.
Davido has previously taken an active interest in the Osun election and raised concerns about the security of the electoral process.

Adeleke made the appeal in a statement addressed directly to President Trump as political activities intensified ahead of the election.
In the statement, the music star urged the United States and other members of the international community to monitor developments surrounding the election and encourage Nigerian authorities to protect voters and ensure that the outcome of the poll reflects the wishes of the electorate.
“President Donald Trump, I am calling your attention to the situation in Osun State, Nigeria, as we approach the election.
Adeleke said concerns over the security situation surrounding the election had continued to grow, stressing that residents of the state should be allowed to exercise their constitutional rights without intimidation or fear.
His latest response to AbdulRazaq adds a new dimension to the political exchanges surrounding the Osun election, particularly over the role of access to the federal government and the ability of elected officials to attract benefits to their states.
