Video of Adeleke Gifting Oyinlola Car Surfaces Online after Ex-Governor Debunks Claim
A video capturing moment Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, gifted former governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, a brand new car has surfaced online hours after the later denied the claim.
NPO Reported that Oyinlola had yesterday dimissed Adeleke’s claim of gifting him a car.
Recall that Adeleke had during a Town Hall meeting organised by Arise TV on Tuesday claimed to have once gifted Oyinlola a car during their time together as he talked down the ex-governor’s withdrawal of support for his candidacy ahead of the August 15 election.Choosing Stargazing Telescopes
Reacting during an interview on Channels TV on Thursday, Oyinlola described the allegation as untrue.
The ex-governor held that the vehicle he received was provided by the Osun State Government in line with legislation governing the benefits of former governors.
“That is far from the truth and it is a bad development that a governor will continue to tell lies,” Oyinlola had said.
According to him, the Osun State House of Assembly enacted a law prescribing certain benefits for former governors, including the replacement of their official vehicles every four years.
Oyinlola had maintained that the vehicle was therefore not a personal gift from Adeleke, but an entitlement provided under state law.Campaigns & Elections
However, a video now circulating online captured moment Adeleke handed the key of the car to Oyinlola.
The governor had in the clip appreciated him for his works as he labelled the car a little token of his administration’s appreciation.
“Everything that you have done we believe that you will be able to continue. So, we are presenting you this our token of appreciation to say thank you.” Adeleke said in the clip.
