The Federal Government will begin rolling out a 90,000km fibre optic network across Nigeria within weeks to improve internet access and support the digital economy.

Communications Minister Dr. Bosun Tijani said the project will cover every state, local government and ward after funding and contracts were completed.

The government will also deploy 3,700 telecom towers from October to provide network coverage for over 20 million Nigerians in underserved communities.

The announcement comes after the telecom regulator received over 2.6 million complaints about poor network services, highlighting the need for better connectivity.
