A Nigerian Primary 3 pupil has become an internet sensation after delivering a hilarious classroom debate in support of the motion that garri is better than rice.

The young girl, identified as Salami Aminat, confidently defended her position with witty comparisons and humorous examples, leaving classmates, teachers and social media users thoroughly entertained after a video of her presentation surfaced online.

During the debate, Aminat jokingly argued that while rice asks people to wait patiently for it to cook, garri only needs a cup and water to satisfy hunger.

In one of the most memorable moments of her speech, she declared:

“Rice is for party. Garri is for salvation. Rice is occasional, garri is dependable.”

She also amused the audience by creating an acronym for the word “GARRI” and giving the popular staple several funny nicknames, including “Students’ Power,” “Time Supporter,” and “Hunger Destroyer.”

Addressing her classmates and guests, Aminat described garri as the “true friend of every Nigerian,” arguing that it always comes to the rescue whenever there is no electricity, gas or money.

She further asked:

“Before I start, let me ask a simple question. If rice is truly better, why do people shout, ‘Garri has finish’?”

The video has since gone viral, with many Nigerians praising the pupil’s confidence, creativity and sense of humour, while others described her debate as one of the funniest classroom presentations they have seen.
