54-Year-Old Man Arrested After Allegedly Killing 71-Year-Old Woman for Ritual Purposes in Abeokuta
A disturbing case has emerged from Olodo, Imala area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, where a 54-year-old man, identified as Dauda Bello, has been accused of the brutal killing of a 71-year-old woman, Mrs. Messi Adisa, in an incident investigators believe was linked to ritual purposes.
According to reports, the suspect allegedly murdered the elderly woman before severing her wrists and ankles, which he reportedly intended to use for ritual purposes.
During interrogation, Dauda Bello allegedly confessed to the crime and claimed that he and the deceased had previously been involved in child trafficking. Crime HQ cannot independently verify this allegation, and authorities have not publicly confirmed the claim beyond the reported confession.
The suspect reportedly told investigators that Mrs. Adisa visited his residence, as she allegedly had on previous occasions, to discuss what he described as their “business.”
He further claimed that he noticed the woman appeared to be carrying a substantial amount of money. Believing she was in possession of a large sum of cash, he allegedly attacked her with a stick, rendering her unconscious.
According to the reported confession, the suspect then allegedly transported the victim to a nearby bush, where he killed her.
He reportedly searched the victim afterward, expecting to find a large amount of money. However, he claimed he discovered only ₦22,000, leaving him disappointed.
Investigators further allege that Dauda Bello buried the victim’s body in the bush in an attempt to conceal the crime.
The shocking case has generated widespread outrage, with many Nigerians calling for justice and stronger measures to combat ritual-related crimes and human trafficking.
Law enforcement authorities are expected to continue investigations to establish the full circumstances surrounding the killing, including the alleged claims of child trafficking and the possible involvement of any other individuals.
If proven in court, the offences alleged in this case carry severe penalties under Nigerian law.
