Chijioke Ihunwo Set To Join Wike’s Rainbow Coalition

A former Obio-Akpor Local Government Area Chairman, Chijioke Ihunwo, is set to join the Rainbow Coalition led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Ihunwo, who until recently was widely regarded as a staunch loyalist of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, is believed to be making moves to align with Wike’s political structure.

This development comes on the heels of explosive revelations that 22 top politicians currently with Governor Fubara are begging to return to Nyesom Wike.

“They are waiting for SIM to present budget so that they will get something before they move,” a highly placed source disclosed.

The politicians, according to insiders, are strategically delaying their defection until after Governor Siminalayi Fubara (SIM) presents and passes the 2026 state budget, allegedly to secure financial benefits before crossing over to the Rainbow Coalition.

Ihunwo had publicly reaffirmed his loyalty to the Fubara administration on several occasions, including praising the Governor’s leadership style and defending his position in the feud with the Federal Capital Territory Minister.

More details are expected in the coming days as Ihunwo and his allies are anticipated to make an official announcement
