Police arrest two for aiding kidnappers in Kwara
The Kwara State Police Command has arrested two suspects for allegedly aiding kidnappers in the abduction of three persons in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects, identified as Sauni Shehu and Auwalu Bala, were apprehended following intelligence-led investigations that linked them to the kidnapping of three victims at Ogele Fulani Camp, via Igbaja, in the local government area.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, disclosed this in a statement released in Ilorin on Friday.
She said the arrests were part of the command’s sustained efforts to dismantle kidnapping networks and bring all those connected with the crime to justice.
“The relentless pursuit of criminal elements and everyone connected to their activities continues to yield tangible results as operatives of the Kwara State Police Command have arrested two suspects for their alleged roles in facilitating the kidnapping of three persons in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state,” Ejire-Adeyemi said.
She added that the suspects were being investigated for alleged criminal conspiracy, aiding and abetting kidnapping, and kidnapping.
“Their arrest followed discreet intelligence-led investigations, which linked them to the abduction of three victims at Ogele Fulani Camp, via Igbaja, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
“The suspects are currently assisting the police with useful information as efforts have been intensified to identify and apprehend every other member of the criminal syndicate,” she added.
Reacting to the development, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining intelligence-led operations aimed at tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
“The command remains resolute in advancing the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, which is anchored on intelligence-led policing, proactive crime prevention, and the protection of lives and property,” Ojo said.
The commissioner urged residents to continue supporting the police with timely, credible, and actionable information, assuring them that every intelligence report received would be professionally harnessed to strengthen ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.
