Ogun Police Rescue Kidnapped Prince, Kill Two Suspects, Recover AK-47

Abeokuta, July 9, 2026 – Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have rescued Prince Idris of Okun Owa unhurt and neutralised two of his abductors following a gun battle in the Agoro/Imodi area of the state.

The victim was kidnapped on the evening of 30th June, 2026, when gunmen invaded his residence at Okun Owa and forcefully took him away. The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, immediately deployed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and other tactical teams to track down the criminals and secure the prince’s release.

After days of sustained intelligence-led operations and mounting pressure on the gang, the kidnappers freed the prince on 3rd July without any harm. However, the police did not relent. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives stormed the kidnappers’ hideout at Agoro/Imodi axis.

On sighting the police, the hoodlums opened fire, sparking a fierce gun duel. The operatives responded decisively, killing two of the kidnappers on the spot. Other members of the gang escaped into the bush with gunshot wounds.

A search of the neutralised suspects led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, an empty magazine, two mobile phones, and a bag suspected to be the ransom bag, along with other incriminating exhibits. Their bodies have been deposited at a government morgue for autopsy.

CP Ojajuni commended the courage and professionalism of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, affirming the Command’s resolve to dismantle all criminal networks in Ogun State. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.
