JUST IN: If The City Boys Like Let Them Put N20Trillion In South-East, They Cannot Beat Peter Obi _ Momodu says
Media entrepreneur and politician Dele Momodu has expressed confidence in the political strength of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in Nigeria’s South-East, arguing that no amount of financial spending would be enough to defeat him in the region while he remains on the ballot.
Speaking during an interview on Nevon HQ, on Tuesday, 7 July, 2026, Momodu said Obi continues to enjoy overwhelming support across the South-East, describing the former Anambra State governor as a dominant political figure in the zone. According to him, the level of support Obi commands cannot be overturned through campaign spending or political mobilization.
Emphasising his position, Momodu said, “If the City Boys Movement like let them put N10 trillion, N20 trillion in the Southeast for as long as Obi is on the ballot, they cannot beat him.”
Momodu argued that Obi’s popularity in the South-East has remained strong despite changes in the country’s political landscape. He suggested that the connection between Obi and voters in the region goes beyond campaign resources, making it difficult for any political opponent to unseat him there through financial influence alone.
The veteran publisher’s remarks come amid continued discussions about the political calculations ahead of future elections and the voting patterns expected across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones. His comments underscore his belief that regional support remains a significant factor in determining electoral outcomes.
