Reports indicate that all 193 councillors across the 16 local government areas of Kwara State have received ₦5 million each in what stakeholders have described as a significant gesture by the state government.
The development has attracted commendations from political stakeholders and local government representatives, who expressed appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for the initiative.
Kwara News Update gathered that beneficiaries and stakeholders also extended their gratitude to the Sardauna of Ilorin and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as well as members of the Kwara State House of Assembly for their support.
The stakeholders further commended the leadership of the Kwara State House of Assembly under the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, for its cooperation and commitment to policies aimed at strengthening grassroots governance and the welfare of elected officials at the local government level.
According to available information, the gesture affected all 193 councillors serving across the state’s 16 local government councils.
Observers say the development may further boost morale among councillors and enhance collaboration between the state government and local government legislative arms.
