I Went To The Senate With My Resignation Letter Because I Cannot Justify Being There – Senator 

Senator Garba Maidoki, representing Kebbi South in the National Assembly, has expressed severe disillusionment with the legislative chamber, revealing his deep dissatisfaction with the internal operations of the federal parliament and his willingness to completely walk away from his political career.

According to a video posted on the Official YouTube channel of Channels Television on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, while speaking on his political future and ongoing legislative frustrations, he stated, “I was prepared not to return to the Senate because I cannot in my own conscience justify my being there due to what goes on, and I feel so disappointed that on several occasions I went to the Senate with my resignation letter.”

The federal lawmaker confessed that the day-to-day happenings within the red chamber constantly conflict with his personal integrity, forcing him to reconsider the purpose of his political journey and making it impossible to defend his continued presence to his constituents.

Maidoki stated that his entry into public office was solely driven by the desire to serve his community rather than chasing personal wealth, which explains his persistent frustration with a political system that frequently prioritizes selfish interests over critical national development.

The politician further disclosed that he has avoided standard legislative activities like official oversight functions because he fundamentally disagrees with how some lawmakers handle public parastatals, describing the overall political environment as highly discouraging for leaders who value accountability.
