Oyo Police Arrest Two Suspected Armed R0bbers, Recover F!rearms in Oyo/Ogbomoso Axis

Operatives of the Oyo State Police Command have arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered firearms and other items following an interception along the Oyo/Ogbomoso axis.

According to a press release signed by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the suspects were apprehended on June 15, 2026, at about 10:48 a.m. during a routine patrol by the Safer Highway Patrol team.

The suspects, identified as Ibrahim Mohammed Dabban and Ndako Sulaimon, both residents of Sabo Area, Sagamu, Ogun State, were travelling in a gold-coloured Nissan Maxima with registration number FKJ 666 KA when they were stopped.

A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of one live cartridge, one cutlass, two jackknives, one handcuff, assorted fetish items, dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, and one Soul-Safe uniform.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, directed that the case be transferred to the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) for further investigation.

During interrogation, the suspects reportedly made confessional statements linking them to armed robbery and other violent crimes. One of the suspects also admitted to unlawfully possessing a pump-action rifle allegedly obtained from an individual in Iperu, Ogun State.

Acting on the information, police operatives extended the investigation to Ogun State, where two pump-action rifles, three live cartridges, and one expended cartridge were recovered from locations linked to the suspect and the alleged supplier. The suspected supplier is said to be at large.

The Command said investigations are ongoing to establish the full extent of the suspects’ criminal involvement and to identify any wider network connected to the illegal possession and circulation of firearms.

CP Olugbenga reiterated the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property and urged the public to support security agencies with credible and timely information.
