Why Rush to Call Them Bandits?” — Sheikh Gumi Questions Government Approach
Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has raised concerns over the Federal Government’s handling of insecurity, questioning the quick labeling of armed groups as bandits despite what he describes as their willingness to negotiate.
Gumi stated that some of the groups operating in northern Nigeria have shown interest in dialogue and are open to discussing their grievances. He argued that branding them solely as criminals could hinder peaceful engagement and resolution.
