At Least 7 Killed, 38 Injured In Fresh Russian Attacks On Ukraine, Says President Zelensky
He further disclosed that another attack in the central Poltava region resulted in two deaths and 12 injuries, including six children.
At least seven people have been killed and 38 others injured following renewed Russian attacks on several regions of Ukraine, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
In a statement issued on Sunday, June 21, 2026, Zelensky said Russian guided aerial bomb strikes on the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia claimed the lives of five people and left 26 others injured.
“Just yesterday (Saturday), Russian guided aerial bomb strikes on Zaporizhzhia killed 5 people and injured 26 others,” the Ukrainian leader stated.
He further disclosed that another attack in the central Poltava region resulted in two deaths and 12 injuries, including six children.
“In Poltava, tragically, 2 people were killed and 12 were injured as a result of the shelling, including 6 children. My condolences to their families and loved ones,” Zelensky said.
Beyond Zaporizhzhia and Poltava, several other regions across Ukraine reportedly came under attack as Russian forces intensified their aerial campaign.

According to the Ukrainian president, the Dnipro, Kharkiv, Odesa, Sumy, Donetsk, Kirovohrad, and Rivne regions were also reportedly targeted during the latest wave of strikes.
Zelensky highlighted the scale of the attacks carried out by Russia over the past week, noting that thousands of drones, guided bombs, and missiles had been launched against Ukraine.
“In total, this week alone, the Russians launched about 2,200 attack drones, more than 1,800 guided aerial bombs, and 87 missiles of various types against Ukraine,” he stated.
The Ukrainian leader stressed the importance of international support amid the continuing attacks, expressing appreciation for the outcomes of recent meetings involving Ukraine’s allies.
“It truly matters that, against the backdrop of these attacks, the G7 and European Council summits and the UDCG meeting delivered results and secured new contributions to strengthen our defense,” Zelensky said.
He also thanked Ukraine’s international partners for their continued backing, while calling for the rapid implementation of pledged assistance, particularly air defense systems.
“I am grateful to our partners for their unity. It is now equally important to implement everything quickly, above all the delivery of air defense missiles, so that these new contributions provide real protection for lives from constant Russian strikes.”
“Thank you to everyone who is helping,” he added.
The latest attacks underscore the continued intensity of the war, with Ukrainian authorities repeatedly calling for stronger air defense capabilities to protect civilians and critical infrastructure from sustained Russian missile, drone, and aerial bomb assaults.
Despite global calls for an end to the conflict, the issues still continue unabated, leading to many deaths, destruction of properties and displacements.
