“I Want You All to Be Very Vigilant, Be Careful and Watchful” – Godswill Akpabio Urges Nigerians

According to a report by Daily Post on Tuesday, June 8, 2026, the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has called on Nigerians to remain vigilant and security-conscious, amid ongoing concerns about insecurity and political tensions across the country.

Akpabio made the appeal on Tuesday while speaking at a public event in Abuja, where he urged citizens to cooperate with security agencies in tackling crime and maintaining peace.

“I want you all to be very vigilant. Be careful and watchful,” he said.

The Senate President said national security requires collective responsibility, stressing that government alone cannot effectively combat criminal activities without the support of citizens at all levels.

He praised members of the armed forces and other security agencies for their efforts in addressing security challenges, noting that their sacrifices often go unnoticed by the public.

Akpabio stated that despite isolated incidents of insecurity, significant progress had been made in stabilising parts of the country through coordinated security operations.

He encouraged Nigerians not to lose confidence in the country, insisting that unity and vigilance remain key tools in overcoming security threats.
