Demolish Looters’ Mansions Too, Not Just Kidnappers’ Hideouts – Sowore

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has argued that the government’s policy of demolishing properties linked to criminal activities should not be restricted to kidnappers alone.

Reacting to the increasing trend of demolishing houses allegedly used as kidnappers’ hideouts, Sowore maintained that the same standard should be applied to politicians, public officials, and influential individuals who acquire wealth through corruption and the looting of public funds.

According to him, public treasury looting is another form of kidnapping, one that deprives millions of Nigerians of essential services and opportunities.
“There is no reason why the demolition of houses should be limited only to kidnappers,” Sowore said.

“If the government truly believes that property acquired through or used for criminal activity should be destroyed immediately, then the same principle must apply to politicians and other powerful individuals who steal public funds.”
