*MESSAGE:*
☆☆☆ Jezebel was after the life of Elijah because he had slaughtered 450 prophets of Baal. Read 1 Kings 18:40; 19:1-2.
☆☆☆ Elijah ran for his life and he was hiding by the Brook Cherith. God commanded the ravens to be feeding him there.
☆☆☆ Suddenly, the Brook dried up and God now asked Elijah to relocate to Zarephath.
☆☆☆ And God said👇

“I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee” – 1 Kings 17:9.

☆☆☆ This is one of the mysteries of God. How could God use a widow, without food; to sustain Elijah!!
☆☆☆ Beloved, if you have not encountered the mysteries of God, you would doubt some testimonies when people stand to testify.
☆☆☆ There are certain lessons that the Holy Spirit wants us to learn from this story today.
☆☆☆ Shall we go:

1. When God wants to bless a man, he first asks him to give.

☆☆☆ For the bible says👇

“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again” – Luke 6:38.

☆☆☆ He who gives will surely receive because givers can never lack.
☆☆☆ Beloved, your offerings will surely terminate your sufferings.
☆☆☆ Some people may want to argue that God asked Elijah to relocate because the Brook dried up.
☆☆☆ Such people need to remember that God can never be stranded. He could stop the Brook from getting dried up.
☆☆☆ Better still, God could instruct the ravens, bringing food to Elijah, to also add some water with it.
☆☆☆ In case you are still in doubt, read 1 Kings 19:5-8. The angel of the Lord brought food to the same Elijah, on two occasions, and he added water as well.
☆☆☆ So God could have done the same thing, this time round, when the Brook Cherith dried up.

☆☆☆ Others might want to argue that it was Elijah who needed help rather than the widow of Zarephath. How wrong could such people be.
☆☆☆ In actual fact, God allowed that Brook to dry up because the widow of Zarephath was in a dare need of assistance.

2. Obedience opens the door to breakthroughs.

☆☆☆ Abraham obeyed God when he was requested to offer Isaac for sacrifice. And God responded:

“And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son.”
[17] “That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies” – Genesis 22:16-17.

☆☆☆ Beloved, if the widow of Zarephath had disobeyed the instructions of God given through Elijah, that meal would have been her last. She obeyed and lived in abundance thereafter.
☆☆☆ Note that Elijah wouldn’t have died of hunger if the woman had disobeyed. It was the woman herself who would have been the one to die of hunger, together with her son.
☆☆☆ Therefore, if you think without you the work of God will not continue, just note that you may be the one who will cease to exist.

3. Don’t allow your situation to determine your giving.

☆☆☆ Sometimes, when we want to give, we often consider what is left and how to manage thereafter.
☆☆☆ Always remember beloved that God said👇

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord” – Isaiah 55:8.

☆☆☆ Have you ever considered the fact that each time you refuse to give, even that which you withheld could not improve your situation!
☆☆☆ This is also very applicable to tithing. Since you have been ‘eating’ your tithe, has your condition improved?

4.  What God said he would do, he will surely do.

☆☆☆ Let’s have a second look at this verse again👇

“Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee” – 1 Kings 17:9.

☆☆☆ God is awesome beloved. He prepared a poor widow who was left with her last meal, ahead of time, just to sustain Elijah throughout the famine period.
☆☆☆ The word of God can never fail:

“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it” – Isaiah 55:11.

☆☆☆ Once God has spoken, it is settled. Simply activate your faith to receive.

5. When God asks the needy to give, it is a set up for divine lifting.

☆☆☆ It was an absolute truth that the widow of Zarephath was a needy. God knew her situation and what she was passing through.
☆☆☆ She had no husband to fend for her and yet she had a son to also cater for.
☆☆☆ Beloved, if you are seriously crying to God for help and God is asking you to render assistance to somebody else, just know it that God has answered your prayers.
☆☆☆ God is simply putting your faithfulness to test ahead of your breakthrough.
☆☆☆ Your giving, especially out of nothing, will surely provoke the abundance of God upon your life.
