Governor Gifts 1,000 Saudi Riyals to 2410 Pilgrim Performing 2026 Hajj
Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has demonstrated his administration’s commitment to the welfare of pilgrims by donating 1,000 Saudi Riyals to each of the 2,410 pilgrims from the state currently participating in the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
The generous gesture, which is equivalent to approximately N450,000 per pilgrim, was announced as part of the state government’s efforts to support the faithful during one of the most significant religious obligations in Islam.
The donation is expected to ease the financial burden on the pilgrims, enabling them to comfortably cater for some of their needs while carrying out the sacred rites in the holy land. Many beneficiaries have reportedly expressed gratitude to the governor for the timely support, describing it as a demonstration of compassion and responsible leadership.
Speaking on the initiative, state officials noted that Governor Aliyu remains committed to ensuring that pilgrims from Sokoto State enjoy a hitch-free and spiritually fulfilling Hajj experience. The government has continued to provide logistical and welfare support to pilgrims before and during their stay in Saudi Arabia.
With 2,410 pilgrims benefiting from the gesture, the total amount committed by the state government runs into millions of Saudi Riyals, underscoring the administration’s dedication to the welfare of its citizens.
The annual Hajj pilgrimage attracts millions of Muslims from across the world to the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah, where they perform a series of religious rites in fulfillment of one of the five pillars of Islam.
Governor Aliyu’s donation has been widely praised by many stakeholders, who believe the intervention will help the pilgrims focus more on their spiritual obligations without undue financial concerns.
