LAGOS – The Lagos State Government has revealed that it generated about ₦80 billion from building approval processes in 2025, highlighting the growing level of construction and property development across the state. Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Oluyinka Olumide, disclosed the figure while explaining the state’s regulatory activities and revenue sources.
According to the commissioner, the revenue came from various planning permits and approval charges required for construction projects.
He also defended the government’s demolition exercises, stating that they are carried out to enforce planning regulations, remove illegal structures, and promote safer urban development.
The disclosure has attracted public attention as discussions continue over property regulations, infrastructure growth, and housing development in Nigeria’s commercial capital.
