Woman  Emerges as concencus Governorship Candidate in NDC

Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani has officially emerged as the governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Adamawa State following a consensus agreement reached among party aspirants.

The development marks another major political milestone for Binani, who continues to strengthen her position as one of the most influential female politicians in Northern Nigeria.

According to party sources, the consensus arrangement was reached after consultations among stakeholders and aspirants within the party, leading to Binani’s adoption as the sole candidate for the NDC governorship ticket in the state.

With her emergence, Binani now stands as the only female governorship candidate expected to contest against at least seven male candidates from various political parties in the upcoming Adamawa governorship election.

Political observers say her candidacy is significant not only for Adamawa politics but also for women’s participation in leadership and governance across Nigeria.

Binani previously made history as the first woman to secure a major party governorship ticket in Adamawa State and has remained a prominent figure in national politics. Her political experience includes serving in the House of Representatives and later as Senator representing Adamawa Central Senatorial District.

Supporters have described her emergence as a reflection of confidence in her leadership capacity, grassroots connection, and political experience.

The Adamawa governorship race is expected to attract intense political attention as parties begin mobilization ahead of the election, with analysts predicting a highly competitive contest among the leading candidates.

More details are expected to emerge from the NDC leadership regarding the official presentation of the party’s governorship flag to Binani.
