Aisha Yesufu reacts as party reportedly drops FCT Senate primaries

Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has appealed for calm after her party reportedly decided not to conduct primary elections for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 elections.

The development was disclosed in a statement shared on Yesufu’s official platform on Friday.

According to the statement, while the party would not proceed with senatorial primaries in the FCT, it would still conduct primary elections for House of Representatives positions within Abuja.

Reacting to the decision, Yesufu urged her supporters to remain focused on what she described as the “bigger picture,” particularly the presidential election.

“Our party has decided not to conduct primaries for the Senatorial seat in FCT Abuja,” the statement read.

“I urge each and everyone of you to remain calm and focus on the bigger picture which is the presidential election. Nigeria will be OK!”

The activist also appreciated supporters involved in the #AishaForSenate campaign project, thanking them for their commitment and dedication throughout the mobilisation process.

She further disclosed plans to return to the six Area Councils within the FCT in the coming week to appreciate residents for their support and continue advocacy efforts for what she described as a “Better FCT.”

The development adds to ongoing political adjustments and strategic decisions by parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
