No Going Back’: Dangguruk Women Burn Alcohol, Declare War on Intoxication in Jos

Fed up with rising alcohol abuse, women of Dangguruk community in Jos South Local Government Area, Plateau State, on Thursday staged a bold operation to rid their area of intoxicants, setting ablaze large quantities of beer and locally brewed drinks.

The women said they were targeting koskolo, cheskela, and other alcoholic beverages they blame for fueling irresponsibility among their husbands and sons.

Chanting “No going back, koskolo must stop,” they moved from shop to shop, seizing and destroying cartons and kegs of alcohol before setting them on fire.
