“If I Become President Tomorrow, My Minister of Defence Will Be a Drone”- Sowore
African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has said technology would play a central role in his administration’s fight against insecurity, declaring that “my Minister of Defence will be a drone” if he becomes president.
Sowore made the statement during an interview on Arise TV on Thursday while outlining his plans to address Nigeria’s security challenges.
According to him, insecurity across the country must be confronted through coordinated military operations supported by modern technology, intelligence gathering, and advanced equipment.
“We must tackle insecurity head-on by pursuing and neutralizing bandits through coordinated operations, backed by modern equipment, technology, and strong intelligence,” he said.
The former presidential candidate stressed the need for competent and accountable security leadership, insisting that security agencies should focus on protecting citizens rather than engaging in what he described as political distractions and misuse of power.
Sowore also criticized the current handling of security operations, saying Nigeria requires a military and police system driven by professionalism, strategy, and innovation.
He explained that his proposed administration would establish a centralized control system capable of monitoring security threats in real time and coordinating rapid responses to criminal activities across the country.
According to him, such a system would help dismantle criminal networks, improve intelligence sharing, and strengthen national security.
The AAC candidate has repeatedly advocated for reforms in Nigeria’s security architecture, emphasizing the use of technology and transparency in governance.
