Your Only Job Is Attacking Peter Obi” — OK Movement Blasts Tinubu’s Aide Bayo Onanuga Over Explosive Comment

Fresh political controversy has erupted after the Southwest Zonal Coordinator of the OK Movement, Adefolaseye Adebayo, launched a blistering attack on presidential media aide Bayo Onanuga over his recent remarks targeting Peter Obi.

The heated exchange followed a post shared by Onanuga on X on Saturday night, where he praised APC presidential aspirant Osifo Stanley Osayamen for possessing “the courage that certain aspiring presidents, such as Peter Obi, lack.”

The statement was widely interpreted as a jab at Obi over his recent move from the African Democratic Congress, ADC, to the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Reacting sharply on Sunday, Adefolaseye accused the Tinubu administration of being obsessed with attacking Obi instead of promoting Nigeria positively before the international community.

“It is a shame that, as a media and communication representative of this government, instead of projecting Nigeria positively to the United States and the international community by reassuring them that our elections will be transparent and credible, your government chose from day one to relentlessly pursue and attack a Nigerian who continues to contribute immensely to improving the lives of ordinary people,” he wrote.

In a strongly worded statement, the OK Movement chieftain further declared:

“We know Peter Obi is your major assignment. Your job description appears to be simply: ‘Attack Peter Obi.’”

Adefolaseye also drew comparisons with former Information Minister Lai Mohammed, warning that public officials are often remembered for the narratives they consistently push while in office.

The latest clash adds another dramatic layer to Nigeria’s rapidly heating political atmosphere, especially as the OK Movement continues mobilization efforts for the anticipated Obi/Kwankwaso presidential alliance ahead of 2027.
