Bandits Give Katsina Community Friday Deadline To Pay ₦10 Million Levy Or Face Invasion

Residents of Rinjin Idi community in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State are currently gripped by fear and uncertainty after armed bandits reportedly issued a disturbing ultimatum demanding a payment of ₦10 million from villagers or risk a violent invasion.

The threat, which has thrown the rural community into panic, reportedly gave residents until Friday, May 22, 2026, to raise and deliver the demanded levy. According to sources within the area, the bandits warned that failure to comply would result in an attack on the community.

The development has heightened anxiety among villagers, many of whom are said to be living in fear as the deadline approaches. Community members reportedly expressed concerns over their safety, especially considering the recurring incidents of armed attacks and kidnappings that have affected several communities across parts of Katsina State and the wider North-West region.

Levy demands by criminal groups have become an increasingly troubling pattern in some rural communities, where residents are allegedly forced to make payments under threats of violence.
