House of Reps member Responds to Drug Allegations, Says Substance Was ‘Sweet Blue Candy’

A member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, has reacted to allegations circulating online that he was seen taking drugs or pills during a public appearance, describing the claims as false and politically motivated.

Speaking on the controversy, Doguwa denied any wrongdoing and insisted that the accusations were part of an attempt by political opponents to damage his image and reputation.

According to him, the narrative being pushed online was the handiwork of “the devil and political enemies” determined to tarnish his public standing.

> “It is the work of the devil and my political enemies that claimed I was taking drugs or pills. They want to ruin my name. What was on my tongue was sweet blue candy,” he said.

In a move aimed at clearing the air, the lawmaker reportedly demonstrated and explained what he claimed was the substance in question, maintaining that it was merely candy and not any prohibited item.
