Goodluck Responds to Citizens’ Call as Godstime Commends PDP Over Waiver
The National President of the Nigerian Youth Unions Government and Front Commander General of the Citizens Mandate for Goodluck Nigeria 2027, Amb. Godstime Chukwubuikem Samuel, has applauded the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over its decision to grant former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan a waiver, describing the move as a response to the growing demand from Nigerians urging Jonathan to return to the presidential race ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to Godstime, the waiver granted by the PDP leadership under Taminu Turaki, SAN, is a significant step that reflects the party’s willingness to accommodate the aspirations of citizens and supporters advocating for Jonathan’s return to active politics.
The development comes weeks after Amb. Godstime, alongside more than two thousand members of the Citizens Mandate for Goodluck Nigeria 2027, staged a mobilization visit to Jonathan’s residence in Maitama, Abuja. During the visit, members of the group passionately appealed to the former President to contest the 2027 presidential election.
Godstime stated that the campaign by the group was driven by what he described as widespread public confidence in Jonathan’s leadership style and vision for national development.
Reports also indicate that following Jonathan’s decision to heed the calls from supporters, members of the Citizens Mandate reportedly rallied resources and contributed funds towards the purchase of his presidential nomination form.
Reacting to the latest development, Amb. Godstime expressed gratitude to the PDP leadership for what he termed a show of respect and confidence in the former President.
He further expressed optimism that Jonathan would emerge victorious if he eventually contests in the 2027 presidential election, insisting that the movement behind the former President continues to gain support across different parts of the country.
Political observers believe the development may further fuel discussions surrounding the 2027 presidential race, as stakeholders continue to monitor unfolding political alignments and possible declarations ahead of the next election cycle.
