Primary elections: APC aspirants in dilemma as screening results yet to be released

Contrary to the revised and published schedule issued by the All Progressives Congress (APC) which suggested that the screening results of aspirants should be made public by Monday, May 11, the aspirants are yet to know their fate.

The published schedule of activities signed by the National Organizing Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, also indicated that the primary elections will proceed on Friday, May 15 for the House of Representatives, the primary election for the Senate ticket is fixed for Monday, May 18, State Houses of Assembly will hold on Wednesday, May 20 while the governorship shadow election is billed for Thursday, May 21 to be climaxed by the Presidential Primary on Saturday, May 23, 2026.

Some aspirants who spoke with our Correspondent Tuesday in Abuja, however, expressed disappointment over the delay.

The delay is said to be causing significant anxiety among aspirants—particularly those contesting for House of Representatives seats, which the primary election is scheduled for Friday this week.

One of the aspirants who spoke with our Correspondent threatened to approach Court if he is eventually disqualified with having enough time to appeal or explain himself to the party.

A visit to the party secretariat revealed some aspirants were coming around to find out why the results of the screening was been delay.
