CAC Bans Fund-Raising by Pastors During Weddings, Funerals
The leadership of Christ Apostolic Church has officially prohibited pastors and ministers from raising funds during special church services such as weddings, funerals, and similar events.
In a directive issued by the church authority and signed by the General Secretary, Pastor E. E. Mapur, the church described the practice as one that is “alien” to the doctrines and traditions of the denomination and warned that it would no longer be tolerated.
According to the circular dated May 11, 2026, and addressed to Regional Superintendents, DCC/Zonal Superintendents, pastors, and church secretaries, the church leadership expressed concern over the growing trend of ministers soliciting funds during special programmes.
The statement noted that the development had come to the attention of the church authority, prompting the need for an immediate policy intervention.
The circular reads in part:
“It has come to the notice of the Church Authority that some of our ministers are fond of raising funds during special services like weddings, funerals and other related services.
This is a practice alien to Christ Apostolic Church, which should not be encouraged howsoever.”
The church further announced that, with immediate effect, no minister is permitted to raise money during such services, warning that any pastor who violates the directive would face sanctions.
“Henceforth, it is now a policy of the Church that no minister should raise funds in special services like weddings, funerals, etc and any minister that flouts this directive shall be sanctioned accordingly,” the statement added.
The directive is expected to spark conversations within religious circles, especially amid increasing concerns about commercialization and financial pressures associated with religious ceremonies.
Church leaders and members across various regions have also been instructed to comply strictly with the new policy without hesitation.
The statement concluded with appreciation to members for their cooperation and prayers for God’s blessings upon the church.
