19-year-old trafficking survivor escapes Ivory Coast for Nigeria following womb removal for refusing prostitution

A 19-year-old woman identified as Ejiro has reportedly returned to Nigeria after an alleged human trafficking ordeal in Ivory Coast that left her seriously injured.

According to her account, a friend of her father allegedly lured her abroad with promises of a legitimate job opportunity. However, upon arrival, she claimed she was told she had been brought there for pr0stitution.

The victim alleged that after refusing to cooperate, traffickers forced her to undergo a surgical procedure carried out by an unidentified doctor, during which her w0mb was allegedly removed. She further claimed that when complications from the surgery persisted, she was moved from Ivory Coast and abandoned in Lagos State before eventually making her way back to Delta State.

The Delta State Police Command confirmed the arrest of two suspects in connection with the case, including a close female associate of the victim’s father.

Police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe said investigations led to the arrest of the main suspect and an alleged accomplice.

According to the police, the woman reportedly confessed during interrogation that she received ₦400,000 from traffickers in exchange for delivering the teenager.

The case has sparked outrage online, with many calling for stronger action against human tr@fficking networks and greater protection for vulnerable young women.
